Tom Fassaert is a dutch documentary director and editor. He directed the award winning features De Engel van Doel (An Angel in Doel) (2011) and A Family Affair (2015). De Engel van Doel picked up the Universities Award for Best Film at DocLisboa (2011) and was nominated for The Golden Calf Award for Best Documentary at the Nederlands Film Festival (2011).
A Family Affair documenting his 95 year-old grandmother’s unexpected confession won the Special Jury Award at IDFA (2015), Best Film Unipol Award at Biografilm (2016), the SMHA&F Festival (2016) Golden Calf Award, and the Grand Jury Prize at the Nederlands Film Festival (2016).
