Katy graduated from the Superior Institute for Social and Communication Studies (IHECS) in Brussels, obtaining a Master in Press and Information. She began as a journalist for press organizations in Belgium, before gradually entering the African audio-visual field, leading both a career as an independent filmmaker, and working for television.
Her films On a le temps pour nous (2019), Traces, empreintes de femmes (2007) and En attendant les homes (2002) have won prizes in numerous festivals and have been distributed on all five continents. Her works have also been shown in cultural hotspots such as MoMa in New York, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the European Museum of Photography in Paris and the “Haus der kulturen der Welt” in Berlin. Katy Léna Ndiaye is now initiating IndigoMood films, a production company set up in Dakar in 2013, and that aims to promote documentary and feature films projects from Senegal and the continent mainly.
