Jeremy Weller | Masterclass | 2013
Jeremy Weller started his career as a painter at Goldsmiths College during the BritArt years alongside contemporaries such as Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin. He then moved on to theatre, and finally into film in order to play with reality and fiction.
His first film, Limboland (2010), won the Danish Film Academy Robert Award, and takes place in a no-man’s-land between fact and fiction. Limboland features ordinary teenage immigrants living in Denmark where they are having a hard time settling down.
In this masterclass Weller talks about trusting your gut, the prevalence of playfulness, and the importance of having a deep connection with your story. He says that it will take time to gain trust with protagonists, but accept your own mistakes and keep the urge to create.
