Gemma holds a BSc (Hons) in Nursing and is currently studying towards a BSc (Hons) in Physics. After qualifying as a Nurse in 2010, she worked within Renal and Transplant Medicine latterly moving into research focusing upon: cancer, neuro-degenerative medicine, genetics and reproductive health.
Following many years within the NHS, she was inspired to move into the third sector, after observing the inspirational effect that charities have on our communities. She has held numerous senior roles within the voluntary sector.
Gemma sits on the Grant Review Panel for several grant-making bodies and has been directly involved with UK-wide trusts and foundations in facilitating strategic restructures of grant-making processes. She also volunteers for Girlguiding Scotland and was awarded her Leadership qualification.
Gemma has joined SDI as Head of Fundraising; this role combines her passion for exploring the powerful stories of others while finding sustainable ways to deliver efficient fundraising strategies. She sees this role as an exciting opportunity to explore new funder relationships while cultivating existing connections.
