Join us as we launch New Voices, a six-month, online mentoring and professional development programme for women and non-binary filmmakers who aspire to become documentary directors and/or producers.
The programme is a mix of mentoring, workshops and career coaching sessions, designed to grow your knowledge of the business side of documentary filmmaking, expand your industry network, explore career expectations and look at practical issues such as childcare and finances.
Our panel for this event includes Viana Maya and Uzma Mir-Young. Viana Maya will lead the career coaching elements through her social enterprise pRESPECT, which specialises in career coaching for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic job seekers, be they new to the job market, graduates, people returning to work after a career break, or having arrived more recently in Scotland.
Uzma Mir-Young is one of our New Voices mentors. Uzma co-founded Turmeric Media in 2008. Turmeric’s mission is to be deliberately diverse. Before forming her own company Uzma worked across a variety of genres at BBC Scotland.
At this event we’ll explain more about the programme and answer questions – find out more about the programme and sign-up for the latest updates via our newsletter.
