Victor Kossakovsky | Masterclass | 2013
Russian filmmaker Victor Kossakovsky began his career in motion pictures at the Leningrad Studio of Documentaries as assistant cameraman, assistant director, and editor in 1978. He now has his own film production company Kossakovsky Film Production in St. Petersburg with the objective of creating a cinema of poetics and reality.
In this masterclass Victor expresses why visuals are stronger than words. He tells us how to play with the audience’s feelings and emotions; and introduces us to different- more personalised- editing techniques.
Victor’s Pavel i Lyalya won the Special Jury Award at IDFA in 1999. His gritty feature length Sreda (Wednesday) won the Documentary Award at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and the True Vision Award at the True/False Film Festival 2012. Victor is also known for Vivan Las Antípodas (2011), Svyato (2005), and Hush (2003).
