We’re thrilled to finally reveal the 12 participants of the 20th edition of Bridging the Gap! This year we received a high number of applications of an exceptional standard. The shortlisted filmmakers distinguished themselves for the inventiveness of their ideas and their potential in challenging the documentary form.
Over the next three months, the participants will develop their proposal through a series of workshops, masterclasses and additional bespoke training. Following the development stage, each filmmaker will be pitching their project to a panel of experts in January 2023.
The first three-day workshop will be led by Saeed Taji Farouky, award-winning Palestinian-British documentary filmmaker specialising in long-term human rights projects. His latest documentary A Thousand Fires (2021) which premiered at the Locarno Film Festival and won the Marco Zucchi Award for Most Innovative Documentary will be released in UK cinemas this November.
