We are delighted to welcome filmmaker Saeed Taji Farouky, for a Masterclass on Thursday 3rd of December 2015, 2.30pm at the Edinburgh College of Art, Lecture Theatre 017.
Saeed Taji Farouky was born in the UK to Palestinian-Egyptian parents and grew up between London and various Middle Eastern cities. He is an award-winning human rights documentary filmmaker whose work focuses on underreported issues and marginalized communities. His films are concerned with transparency in documentary filmmaking, often referencing the relationship between subject and filmmaker.
Saeed will be discussing his approach to documentary and speaking about his latest film Tell Spring not to come this year.
This masterclass is presented in collaboration with DoCKLub, and followed by screening at Filmhouse of his latest film Tell Spring not to come this Year on Friday 4th, 9pm (+ Q&A)

Tell Spring Not to Come This Year follows one unit of the Afghan National Army (ANA) over the course of their first year of fighting in Helmand without NATO support. It is an intimate film about the human side of combat, told from a largely unheard and misrepresented perspective, that explores the deep personal motivations, desires and struggles of a band of fighting men on the frontline. Without a NATO soldier in sight, and no narrative but their own, this is the war in Afghanistan, through the eyes of the Afghans who live it.
The film received its World Premiere at the Berlinale in February 2015 and was awarded the Amnesty International Human Rights award and the Audience Award for best documentary.
